Verve and our environment.

Verve Senior Living is committed to practices and procedures that protect the environment and add value to the communities that we operate in. Founded in 2021, our ESG Committee is in the process of identifying and creating opportunities to integrate high Environmental, Social & Governance standards into our business strategy and day-to-day operations. We look forward to updating you on our progress.

Environmental Initiatives

We pride ourselves on being an industry leader in the implementation of green building technologies. For the last fifteen years, Verve Senior Living has been building projects, which use geothermal heating and cooling systems. Nine of these projects are now operational residences, with a further three under construction and four in the planning stage. Further to this initiative, Verve has been implementing and assessing the viability of other green technologies which drive GHG reduction.

These initiatives include wastewater recovery systems, green roofs, rainwater harvesting, solar thermal, building integrated solar, photovoltaic solar, as well as assessing the sustainability and carbon footprint of construction materials.

Air quality is another important element to our building designs, and we are now utilizing individual energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) in each suite to maximize fresh air changes for our residents. This industry leading approach to the design of our buildings, significantly increases the cost of developing new residences, however it aligns with our vision of being resident centric.

Social Initiatives

Our core values of integrity, collaboration, a passion for excellence, flexibility, and empathy are embedded in every aspect of Verve Senior Living, guiding our organization for over 40 years to ensure our team members are empowered to be themselves and cultivate an environment for our residents to do the same.

By partnering with the recognized industry leader Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI), we’ve put in place tools to support a respectful, equitable, and discrimination-free workplace. These include a dynamic approach to an employee code of conduct and the monitoring of key metrics to ensure a collaborative culture with aligned results.

The key to our success is a national Action Committee comprised of representatives from all levels and across residences dedicated to racial equity because we believe true change comes from celebrating and including varied experiences, backgrounds, and views when developing programs and services in benefit of us all.
